Disela-sela persiapan jelang GP Silverstone 2013, Valentino Rossi mengungkapkan penilaiannya terhadap motor yang dipakai dalam kejuaraan motoGP saat ini. Seperti disampaikan oleh crash.net, Ia berujar jika motogp itu (saat ini) terlalu sempurna. Penggunaan perakangkat elektronik menurutnya berdampak negatif pada daya tarik motogp sebagai hiburan. 

“This year I think the races are a bit more fun compared to the last years, but not fantastic. I think our bikes are too perfect and sometimes it is too difficult to make an overtake and battle,”

Rossi menambahkan, setidaknya perangkat komputer yang berhubungan dengan power motor perlu dikurangi 50-60 persen.

Well, best option? ya, karena ia tentu mendapat kontrak lebih besar dari pada di Yamaha tech 3. Tapi kan akhir-akhir ini ducati gak secemerlang tech 3, malah di belakang mulu. Ya memang, tapi kesempatan di tim pabrikan tentu lebih besar dan tentunya bergantung pada kolaborasi Crutchlow sendiri dan tim dalam pengembangan Desmodici, mengingat tiap pembalap punya karakter tersendiri.

Tawaran dari ducati bisa jadi pilihan terbaik untuknya. Selain mendapat gaji 8 kali lipat dari pada di Tech 3, di dalam kontraknya ada kesepakatan bahwa Cal bisa pindah ke tim manapun jika di musim 2014 ducati tidak kompetitif. Sementara itu di akhir tahun 2014, beberapa kontrak pembalap habis, Rossi, Bradl, Bautista hingga Smith, selain itu Suzuki juga kembali ke motogp, pilihan dan kesempatan begitu terbuka untuk Cal apabila memang nanti di musim 2014 ducati tidak kompetitif.

Yang jelas Cal sudah mendapat kontrak lebih baik di musim 2014 nanti, plus dukungan full pabrikan untuk tim Ducatinya. Kalau bisa klop seperti Stoner, mungkin ia bertahan tapi kalau pun tidak kompetitif, ia memiliki banyak pilihan.

Jelang motogp seri Catalunya (13/06/2013), para rider melakukan sesi 'latihan tak biasa'. Bukan di sirkuit namun di lapangan sepak bola. Ya, mereka bermain sepak bola di markas tim besar Barcelona FC, Camp Nou. Para rider ini terbagi menjadi dua tim, yakni tim motoGP dan tim dari moto2, moto3.

Pertandingan yang berlangsung 2 x 25 menit ini  berakhir dengan skor 4-3 untuk keunggulan tim motogp. Pembalap moto2 pol Espargaro berhasil mencetak gol pertama saat pertandingan baru berjalan 2 menit. Semenit kemudian pembalap ducati Andrea Dovizioso berhasil menyamakan kedudukan. Tim motogp sempat unggul lewat gol Randy de Puniet sebelum Sandro cortese menyamakan kedudukan menjadi 2-2.

Kontraknya habis tahun ini. Penampilannya pun kian konsisten. Tapi sayang, posisinya tidak aman. Pihak tech 3 telah melakukan pembicaraan dengan Pol Espargaro untuk musim depan karena pada awalnya memang Cal hanya bersedia memperpanjang kontrak selama satu tahun untuk menjaga kesempatan masuk ke tim pabrikan. Praktis masa depan Cal belum jelas.

Kemana kah ia akan berlabuh? akankah ada tempat di tim pabrikan untuknya? apakah ducati, dimana kontrak hayden juga berakhir? Suzuki, yang tahun depan akan kembali? atau repsol honda? :-D

Start dari posisi keempat dengan kondisi cedera Cal Crutchlow berhasil raih hasil terbaik selama terjun di motogp dengan finish di posisi kedua dibelakang Dani Pedrosa. Setelah berhasil menyalip Rossi, Cal terus bertahan dibelakang bekas rekan setimnya musim lalu, Dovizioso, yang sebelumnya duel dengan Pedrosa untuk posisi terdepan. Kesempatan datang bagi Crutchlow saat Dovi melakukan kesalahan setelah melahap tikungan diakhir lap 5, Cal pun sempat terpengaruh namun ia berhasil memanfaatkan kesempatan, mencari celah lalu tancap gas meninggalkan Dovi dibelakang hingga akhirnya finish di posisi kedua.

Kaget campur sedih bro :( official WSBK lewat akun facebooknya memposting "While we're a little bitter because we won't see him race again, we want to thank our 2-time World Champion Max Biaggi for these exciting years, and wish him good luck for his future projects! Thank you Max!" berserta gambar Max di sana. Waduh jangan-jangan Biaggi beneran pensiun lagi. Langsung saya meluncur googling untuk memastikan kabar tersebut. Dan ternyata benar, berita pensiunnya Biaggi ada di twowheelsblog dan crash.net. Waduhhh :\

Sempat diisukan pensiun, mengingat umurnya yang sudah 41 tahun, akhirnya Max biaggi pastikan kelangsungan karirnya sebagai pembalap. Hari ini, 7 November, lewat press conference yang diadakan di sirkuit Vallelgunga, tempat Max Biaggi pertama kali membalap, Biaggi umukan kalau ia akan pensiun. Keluarga merupakan alasan utama kenapa ia berhenti.

Kalo ada yang bertanya, kok Suzuki gak ada yah? suzuki gak ikut motogp lagi? emang iya bro, akhir musim 2011 lalu Suzuki memastikan kalau mereka tak akan ikut balap motogp hingga musim 2013 mendatang. Praktis kita tak bisa lagi melihat aksi jagoan Suzuki, GSV-R ini. Meski tak lagi ikut balap motoGP, GSV-R tampil pede, mempercantik booth Suzuki di ajang JMCS (Jakarta Motorcycle Show) 2012. Motor bekas besutan Alavaro Bautista dengan nomor 19 ini tetap menarik perhatian pengunjung JMCS. Kangen kali yaa gak pernah liat motor kelir biru khas Suzuki lagi di motoGP hehe

Wet race sejak seri pertama moto3 dimulai, Rossi diharapkan dapat kompetitif di Le mans. Benar saja, begitu race motoGP dimulai Rossi langsung masuk ke baris terdepan, tepatnya posisi ke 3 dibelakang Lorenzo dan Stoner. Sementara duo monster Yamaha, Dovi dan Cal Crutchlow membuntuti dibelakang.

Performa Ducati terlihat sangat baik saat kondisi hujan. Rossi berusaha terus menempel Stoner di awal balapan. Alih-alih menyalip juara dunia tersebut, Rossi malah dipecundangi duo monster Yamaha. Ia melorot ke urutan 5.

Harapan tuk dapat podium datang ketika Cruthclow crash lalu disusul teman se-tim nya Dovi. Sekarang tinggal Stoner dan Rossi. Sementara Lorenzo mempin jauh di depan.

Dua kali berusaha overtake Stoner akhirnya Rossi berhasil menyusul di final lap. Hingga race berakhir Rossi finish di posisi kedua di belakang Lorenzo, disusul Stoner, Pedrosa dan Bradl. Sementara teman se-tim Rossi Nicky Hayden finish di posisi 6 di depan duo Monster Yamaha Dovi dan Crutchlow.

Berita mengejutkan datang dari juara dunia motogp Casey Stoner. Pada sesi pres-confrence di Le Mans secara resmi Stoner mengumumkan pensiun. Ia merasa sudah tidak lagi menikmati balapan motogp. Banyaknya perubahan yang terjadi menjadi sebab ia pensiun dini.

Berikut petikan pernyataan Stoner

“After a long time thinking, a lot of time talking with my family and my wife, this has been coming for a couple of years now but at the end of this 2012 season I will be not racing in the 2013 Championship. I will be finishing my career at the end of this season in MotoGP, and go forward in different things in my life.”
“After so many years of doing this sport which I love, and which myself and my family made so many sacrifices for, after so many years of trying to get to where we have gotten to at this point, this sport has changed a lot and it has changed to the point where I am not enjoying it. I don’t have the passion for it and so at this time it’s better if I retire now."
“There are a lot of things that have disappointed me, and also a lot of things I have loved about this sport, but unfortunately the balance has gone in the wrong direction. And so, basically, we won’t be continuing any more. It would be nice if I could say I would stay one more year, but then where does it stop? So we decided to finish everything as we are now.”

Sebelumnya di Estoril, Stoner menepis rumor kalau ia akan pensiun “Until you hear it out of my mouth then don’t believe anything you read,” Tapi sekarang Stoner sudah memutuskan.

Alasan mengapa Stoner pensiun diantaranya hadirnya motor CRT, penerapan regulasi Rev. Limiter di musim 2014 dimana motor akan dibatasi pada RPM 14.000, serta tidak ada kesepakan pada durasi kontrak bersama HRC.

Valentino Rossi kagum dengan balapan WSBK Donnington yang penuh drama. Setelah race 2 usai, ia berkomentar lewat akun twitternya “Che razza di gara la Superbike!Che bagarre,bravi tutti,peccato per le BMW all’ultima curva.” (What a Superbike race! What a battle, everyone is so good, too bad about the BMWs at the last turn), bahkan CEO Dorna Carmelo Ezpeleta meng-iyakan komentar lainnya dari Rossi “Purtroppo le nostre gare sono diventate molto più noiose” (Unfortunately our races have become much more boring). Sementara itu Flamini bersaudara yang menaungi balapan Superbike berharap Rossi tetap bosan sehingga kepindahannya ke WSBK segera terwujud.

Memang balapan motoGP makin lama semakin membosankan. Juara hampir bisa dipastikan di pertengahan balapan seperti pada race sebelumnya, khususnya musim 2012. Sejauh ini kompetisi motoGP jauh dari kata kompetitif. Hal ini berbeda dengan Superbike. Udah deh, mending pindah aja Rossi ke WSBK biar ketemu Max Biaggi hehe :-D

Leading from the beginning of the race, Stoner succeed placed himself in 1st podium followed by Lorenzo and Pedrosa in 2nd and 3rd place.

Stoner easily took the first place overtaking Lorenzo, Pedrosa, and Hayden, the first grip in Jerez. The number 1, Stoner, removed the curse that he never won in Jerez. Meanwhile the pole-position holder Lorenzo must satisfied in the second followed by Pedrosa in the third. Start from the third, the Ducati rider, Hayden had been in front position in the beginning but he couldn’t manage the bike to survive and dropped to 9th place in front of Rossi.

The race run bored enough as the gap in the middle of race is far. However, the duels between Stoner and Lorenzo for 1st place as well as Pedrosa and Crutchlow for 3rd place were quietly entertained.

Max Biaggi is a motorcycle racer. He is a former motoGP rider and now race in World Superbike. Many racing fans admire him for his ambition for champion. However some racing fans as well as his colleagues also complained for his attitude. Sometimes he takes a very hard effort and harms his colleagues but in reality every racing fans will miss him if he didn’t take part in a race. Max Biaggi has all the qualities of an incredible sportsman as well as attractive entertainer: His bravery and ambition, remarkable talent, and strong character.

First of all, Biaggi is well known for his ambition. He will do anything to take the podium even have to debate with his team and mechanics to get the best setting. He is also a big risk taker. In 2001 he had a conflict with Yamaha for bike matter. For the consequences he dropped out then joined to Honda because he thinks his previous team didn’t give their best for him. The best rival who ever felt how bitter compete with Roman Emperor –Biaggi’s nickname- is Valentino Rossi.

Then, Biaggi is a clever racer who has its own way to finish a race. He is well known for his bravery both in racing style and in taking the racing line. Moreover some racing enthusiast says his racing style is dangerous. Nevertheless I think he is just elegant racer with his own way and very entertaining. His biggest achievement was winning World Superbike Championship in 2010.

Finally, Biaggi is not only a great racer he is also an attractive entertainer. Why? For all the character that I’ve mention before it makes him an entertaining racer. He serves great rivalries, a news maker, and creates a conflict just make a racing competition more enjoyable. The greatest rivalries he ever had are with The Doctor, Valentino Rossi. War of words, elbowing in a race, and hard fight just describe their rivalries.

Max Biaggi is more than a great sportsman. He makes a competition more enjoyable to watch. That’s why a lot of racing fans love him. Even though his performance this year little bit decrease, there is always a place for an entertaining racer as him.
